What is HealthCare Consumerism?

Health care consumerism is about transforming an employer’s health benefit plan into one that puts economic purchasing power—and decision making—into the hands of participants. This is best achieved by supplying employees with the decision-making information and support tools they need, along with financial incentives, rewards and other benefits that encourage personal involvement in altering health and health care purchasing behaviors.

How can I become an IHC member and receive a $100 member discount?

Sign up for ’s free and you will receive a confirmation email with the member code for your registration discount. If you register using the promo code: NEWMEMBER, you will automatically be enrolled as a member and receive your $100 off your registration fee.

How do I register?

What’s included in the registration fee?

Three innovative workshops of your choice, five general sessions with top industry leaders, continental breakfast, networking breaks throughout the day, boxed lunch, Opening Night reception and conference workbook

Do you have a group rate?

Yes, we have a group discount. Receive a 50% discount on each person you register when you sign up two or more attendees. Just press the “Add Another Person” button after you choose your workshops. The discount will automatically be applied during checkout. If using a promo code, you must enter the promo code for each person.

I’ve already registered but cannot attend. Can I transfer or cancel my registration?

You may substitute another individual in your place at no extra charge. This can be done on the online registration. Click the View or Change your existing registration link. Registration cancellations are subject to a $50.00 cancellation administrative fee. Full refunds, minus the cancellation fee, will be made only if a written cancellation is received or postmarked before July 25, 2012. You may fax your cancellation request to FieldMedia at 866.671.5462. No refunds will be processed after July 25, 2012.

Is lunch included in my registration?

Yes, a box lunch is included on the first full day of the conference. On the second day, we will have some appetizers available during our final networking break.

Do I need to register for workshops?

Yes, most workshops are limited to the first 40 to 50 registrants. Although you can change your workshop assignments when you arrive, but please be aware that seating is limited and some workshops may fill up quickly.

Can I change my workshops?

Yes, you can change your workshops anytime by going into your registration and clicking the “View or Change your Existing Registration” link.

Can I get educational credits?

Yes, our conference offers PHR, SPHR and GPHR credits approved by HR Certification Institute. Our CDHC Certification Pre-Conference Course is certificated for broker credit by NAHU. HRCI Certificates will be available at the registration desk.

I’m driving. Where do I park?

The Red Rock Resort does have parking and it is free of charge. The east parking garage is the closet parking to the conference center.

What is the discount deadline for hotel rooms?

Discount Room Rate for Attendees: $130.00. res# RCICDH The cutoff date for reservations at the reduced rate is 5pm on August 12, 2012. After that, the hotel’s prevailing rates apply.

What is so special about this hotel?

Where do I pick up my name badge?

Badges will be available at the registration desk, located outside the Red Rock Ballroom in the convention center. the desk will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5th and at 7:30am on Thursday, September 6, 2012.

Will there be a printed conference showguide?

You will receive our IHC FORUM Workbook that includes the agenda, maps, workshops and general session information.

Are there accommodations for special needs at the conference?

To reserve an ADA accessible room, please call our reservations department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 855.306.1126.

Am I allowed to record sessions or presentations at the conference?

Recording is not permitted during the general sessions and workshops.

Will I have internet access at the conference?

Internet access will be available in the meeting rooms and ballroom during conference hours.

Will I get any hand-outs for workshops?

While some workshops may have handouts – all presentations will be available on line after the conference. Also, you will receive a workbook that has room for notes.


Limited to nine individuals per table, attendees can enjoy an interactive lunch with key leaders and have the opportunity to engage in an open discussion on the featured Table Topics. Table assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to sign up at the registration desk.


We are excited to announce HealthCare Consumerism Connections, a game designed for our attendees to learn about our exhibitor’s solutions and how they can help their organization on the journey to healthCare consumerism. Stop by an exhibitor’s booth and get your game sheet stamped. After you have visited all the exhibitors, tear out the game sheet and fill out the back with your name and contact information. Turn in your game sheet no later than 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept 7th for our Grand Prize Drawing. The drawing will take place on Friday, Sept 7th, in the Red Rock Ballroom at 11:30 a.m. You must be present to win.

When will the Exhibitor’s prize drawings take place?

Will sessions and presentations be available for viewing after the conference?

Yes, all workshop presentations will be available through the IHC FORUM NETWORKING GROUP located on www.theihcc.com.

When does the Conference open?

The conference opens Thursday at 7:30 a.m. There are pre-conference workshops on Wednesday, Sept 5th starting at 1:00 p.m. Please see the full conference schedule for details.

What is the best way to get updates at the conference?

As a registered attendee you will receive periodic emails with news updates. Updates will also be posted on the IHC FORUM NETWORKING blog.

Will there be Wi-Fi in the convention center?

Yes, free Wi-Fi will be available in the Red Rock Ballroom during conference hours.

Do you collect feedback about the conference?

What are the dates and locations for future conferences?

Our 2013 East Conference will be May 8 – 10, 2013 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. Our West Conference will be in September – dates and location TBA.
